He's basically geeting 18.5 per year where as Baron Davis is getting like 12 million a year for his new contrat with the Clippers. I know Arenas is younger but I take Davis over him anyday.

Arenas, Wizards Agree To $111M Deal

Gilbert Arenas has agreed to take less money to remain a member of the Washington Wizards, but he still will be far above comfortable on the financial front, the Associated Press is reporting.

"What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can't do with $111 million?" he told The Washington Post.

Arenas told the Post and the Washington Times on Thursday that he has agreed to re-sign for $111 million over six years, considerably less than the maximum deal he said the Wizards offered him when the free agency period began on Tuesday.

"I'm basically giving back $16 million," Arenas said. "This is in line with what I've been saying the whole time. You see players take max deals and they financially bind their teams. I don't wanna be one of those players and three years down the road your team is strapped and can't do anything about it."

shake the team up.. .and done what?? it's one thing to "shake the team up" .. but you need to have a plan .. they let him go.. .and they got antonio daniels..

remember .. rarely have the 3 stars of the wizards actually play together ... on a consistent basis. . if ever..

No he is not worth it all dat money..but he is still a good player and they wouldn't be all dat good without him...A healthy Arenas gives them a better chance to win b/c he can drop 40+ on you any given night

the wizards have won 42-43-44(close to that) games the past three seasons, basically they are garbage...now u stuck with that team for the next 5 years a first round exit

This move is only good if haywood has another goodseason cause he was much better last season, if they get another big man, and they need a big pg to allow arenas to play more 2 guard cause antonio daniels is a 3rd string backup now

As a longtime follower of the Wiz, I'll be the first to say that he is NOT worth all that money. But I will give him credit for less than the max.

Now he has to go out and deliver. A first round exit is not acceptable.

He's worth it to Abe. They will sell enough of his jerseys and sell out enough games to pay for that contract + if the 3 of them ever get healthy at playoff time they could see conference finals.
