As long as they get rid of the current XBOX 360 Hard drives and allow people to use standard hard drives found in computers and the hardware isnt shit, I could see myself buying this. But not before a PS3.

yeah this thread is garbage and that entire article is definetly BS. But if MS did happen to redesign the system I would be one of the first in line.

Old concept image, though be cool if they did so, don't count on MS doing it anytime soon.

esterday we reported that a couple of sites, one based in India, are reporting that Microsoft plans to release a slim 360 model.
So far, the validity of these reports have been brought into question due to the lack of specific sources, however the author of the Split-screen article made a public statement over N4G:
"... First of all, on the validity of the source: It came straight from Microsoft India's Retail Services Manager. The reason you don't see him named (simply the words "MS execs" are displayed) it's because MS and Genesis (the PR company who promotes the 360 here) were ping-ponging back and forth about whether to let some sites run the story or not. Some things like the package deal could be reported and others like the new IPs announcement you'll see on gameguru.in were not allowed. However, the key word is "ping-ponging": They had no problem with us noting the info, they said they had no prob making it public and for that matter, we haven't received any phone calls (neither Split-screen nor Gameguru) telling us to remove it. Other sites like The Angry Pixel have not been so fortunate and had to hold back a large amount of news as a result.
The point is: It's real and we can expect an announcement in December, which seems in line with Engadget's report on the new redesign coming in 2009 along with Valhalla chips combining the CPU and GPU chips..."
The plot thickens. This guy says what he is reporting is true, and its presence on gamesguru seems to back him - so why haven't the 'big boys' taken up the story yet?
Stay tuned.
I don't think it's BS. M$ had to be working on redesigning the motherboard with the whole RRoD issue, and if that's the case then you know they were trying to shrink the design aspect down at the same time.
It's easy to see that the Elite was a short term solution to a long term problem (hence the Elites getting RRoDs too).
Either way, I was gonna cop a 360 again but now I'll at least wait until Dec. to make a decision.

Thats the only thing I would like to know as well, while it would be awesome if true, not having any major site pick up on it makes the story seem suspect. That plus the image is an old concept image according to various sources around the web. Which imo is pretty obvious since it looks almost exactly like the slim PS2. We'll see though, but I doubt MS is going to give up their proprietary cash cow so soon in the game even if the rumor is true.
